Does Unilink eSIM Provide a Phone Number for Calls and SMS?

Unilink tourist eSIM plans are designed exclusively for high-speed mobile internet abroad. A dedicated local or international phone number is not provided with the profile.

Calls, SMS, and service verification

• Standard cellular calls and SMS: Traditional incoming and outgoing voice calls over cellular networks, as well as standard SMS to the eSIM profile, are not supported.

• Internet calls and messaging: You can freely make audio and video calls, as well as send text and voice messages via any VoIP or messaging app: WhatsApp, Telegram, FaceTime, Viber, Zoom, Skype, and others.

• Verification codes and SMS authentication: The eSIM profile cannot receive SMS verification codes for banking apps, ride-sharing services, or social networks (e.g., Uber, Yandex Go, WhatsApp). Use your permanent primary number or specialized virtual number services (such as onlinesim.io) for receiving authorization codes.

• If you need a local phone number: To make traditional cellular phone calls within your destination country, you will need to purchase a physical SIM card from a local carrier.

How to keep your primary number active for incoming calls and bank SMS

Your domestic physical SIM card can remain active alongside your Unilink eSIM:

• For iOS (iPhone / iPad):

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data).

  2. Under Cellular Data, select Unilink eSIM.

  3. Under Default Voice Line, select your primary domestic SIM card.

• For Android:

  1. Go to Settings > SIM manager.

  2. Assign Unilink eSIM for Mobile data, and keep your domestic SIM selected for Calls and Messages.

Personal Hotspot and data sharing

Sharing your internet connection (Personal Hotspot / Wi-Fi tethering) with other smartphones, laptops, smartwatches, and tablets is fully supported across all Unilink data plans with no extra fees or restrictions.
