Monitoring Data, Saving Usage, and Topping Up Unilink eSIM
1. Checking Data Balance and Billing Details
Where to check: In the Unilink app under the My eSIMs tab (tap the relevant eSIM card or the Info button).
Forced refresh (Pull-to-Refresh): Pull down on the active eSIM card screen to trigger a forced synchronization with the carrier's billing gateway.
Update intervals: Consumption data is received from international partner carriers with a slight technical delay (typically ranging from 15–30 minutes up to 1–2 hours). The balance may not always reflect usage in real time.
2. Balance Top-up and Plan Limitations
How to top up: Tap Top-up on the active eSIM card, select a suitable data package, and pay via bank card or U-Wallet bonus credits.
Unlimited plan restrictions:
On plans with a daily high-speed cap (e.g., 500 MB or 1 GB per day), maximum speeds automatically restore every 24 hours.
Adding extra high-speed data within the current day on an active unlimited plan is not supported. To regain high-speed connectivity immediately, the customer must purchase a separate fixed-data package.
3. Resolving eSIM Display and Balance Refresh Issues
If a purchased eSIM is missing from the list:
Go to the Profile tab in the app's bottom navigation menu.
Tap Restore Purchases.
Return to the My eSIMs tab — the purchased plan will synchronize and appear in the list.
If the balance did not update after payment or delays occur:
Request the customer's ICCID (found in the eSIM details) and payment receipt, then inspect the package provisioning status on the provider side.
4. Data Optimization and Preventing Rapid Consumption
Background system activity, automatic app downloads, and cloud backups often cause silent data drain while roaming. Advise customers to apply the following system settings:
iOS Instructions (iPhone / iPad)
Disable "Wi-Fi Assist":
Reason: When Wi-Fi reception is weak (such as in hotels), iOS automatically routes background traffic through the cellular eSIM line.
How to turn off: Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data) > scroll all the way to the bottom past the app list > toggle off Wi-Fi Assist.
Disable cloud syncing and backups:
In the same bottom section (Settings > Cellular), turn off:
iCloud Backup
iCloud Drive
Enable "Low Data Mode":
Available on iOS 13 and later (restricts background network usage for the selected line):
Go to Settings > Cellular > select Unilink eSIM line > Cellular Data Options > enable Low Data Mode.
Turn off automatic app updates:
Go to Settings > App Store > under the Cellular Data section, toggle off Automatic Downloads.
Personal Hotspot security:
Review connected clients in Settings > Personal Hotspot and configure a strong password to prevent unauthorized devices from draining data.
Android Instructions
Enable Data Saver:
Go to Settings > Network & internet (or Connections) > Data usage (or Data Saver) > toggle on Data Saver.
Disable app auto-updates:
Open the Google Play Store > Profile Settings > Network preferences > Auto-update apps > select Over Wi-Fi only.
Hotspot management:
Ensure no unauthorized background devices are connected when sharing a mobile hotspot.
